Have you ever asked the question “Why did God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden of Eden?” Well, quit asking because God didn’t put it there, the enemy did! Genesis chapter 2:9 says “and out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” Yes God planted a good garden with trees and fruit to eat from, but that ONE tree that God specifically warned Adam and Eve NOT TO EAT FROM was not planted by God. “An enemy has done this” Notice the parable in Matthew 13:24-28 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while the man slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir didst not though sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, “An enemy hath done this!” The tree of knowledge of good and evil is death and God has no part in death. Death is an enemy of God. Thank God for Jesus Christ who has revealed to us that the devil is the one who has been lying and murdering from the very beginning. (John 8:44) God did not put the tree of knowledge of good and evil there to test us. The devil is the one who tests us. Notice James 1:13 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God” Tempt and test mean the same thing. God DOES NOT test us with evil. In the King James Strong’s Concordance the word tempted in the Greek is “peirazo” code G3985, which simply means to test! God is not the one who put that tree there to test us, the enemy did. Don’t you see – when the blade sprung up, it brought forth fruit- this is the tree of knowledge of good and evil – Adam and Eve ate, then appeared the tares. But thanks be to the grace of God that we have now have access to the tree of life which comes through accepting Jesus Christ.
God is good, the devil is bad
